Round 3 – u/18 Academy Week Preview

 

This weekend we see the u/18 Academy Series back in action after a two-week layoff during the Christmas Festivities. Although in the 3rd week already there is still a lot to play for in both Conferences.

In the Northern Conference, it is Leicester Tigers, Sale Sharks and Yorkshire Carnegie who is still unbeaten with Harlequins and Gloucester the two unbeaten sides in the Southern Conference.

Northern Conference

Leicester Tigers v Wasps: The Leicester Tiger, who is currently unbeaten in the Northern Conference are still unbeaten after their last victory against the Northampton Saints of 53-12 will play against a Wasp team who won their first game in round two 42-31 against Worcester Warriors. Tiger who is the reigning champions is the favourite to win this one.

Newcastle Falcons v Yorkshire Carnegie: Yorkshire Carnegie who is unbeaten played to a 19 all draw in round two against Sale Sharks should prove to be too much for the current bottom of the log team Newcastle Falcons. Newcastle had a bye in the second round but suffered a big 66-14 loss against Leicester Tiger in Round 1.

Worcester Warriors v Northampton Saints: Northampton Saints and Worcester Warriors is still looking for their 1st wins in this competition. A close game with both teams lagging in the bottom end of the table.

Sale Sharks have a bye.

Southern Conference

Bristol Bears v Exeter Chiefs: Both teams have yet to win after two matches and also have not scored a point on the log.

Gloucester v Bath: Gloucester had a convincing win against Bristol (50-14) in round two to remain unbeaten after two games. Bath made their intentions clear with a convincing victory against Exeter Chiefs (64-17) in round 2 after the had a bye in round 1. A big match with both teams wanting to win and keep their unbeaten record intact.

Saracens v Harlequins: Saracens who are still looking for their first win after losing to Gloucester (28-12) in round 1 will host Harlequins who is the log leader after wins against London Irish (43-26) and Bristol (48-0). Expect Harlequins to still be log leaders after this weekend.

London Irish have a bye this weekend.
